Why do people laugh at creationists?

by DSTroy on Sep.02, 2008, under REAL Science, Religulous

This is a great video series from tunderf00t on Youtube. I highly recommend watching this.

The only people so stupid as to not understand the answer are the creationists themselves.

New religious discrimination manual

by DSTroy on Aug.25, 2008, under Fresh News, Political, Religulous

Kinda-New religious discrimination manual released.
Supposedly religious discrimination is up.

WASHINGTON — Citing changing demographics and a steady increase in complaints from people of faith, a federal agency last week released an updated compliance manual on religious discrimination in the workplace.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission issued the guidance after consultation with religious groups, employers, and labor organizations. The number of religious-discrimination charges reported to the agency has more than doubled over the last 15 years.

Why did they consult ‘religious groups’? That’s like asking a squeaky wheel if it wants grease?

Yes, they are probably pointing their fingers at us too. That is why I say we joining forces. Call ourselves the Logicologists and our sabbath is Monday. We will pick holidays and require special privileges…

More George Carlin Logic about Religion

by DSTroy on Jun.30, 2008, under LOL, Religulous, Videos

Sorry to overload you with comedy but that should be impossible, right? A legend has died and his legacy will live on. George Carlin was a very logical person and a hero of mine. This bit is brilliant and unfortunately very true; talk about a good B.S. story… There is so much money in religion and my posts should clearly show my attitude on this subject. So laugh but think too!

American Knights Templar

by Ron Gold on Jun.25, 2008, under Religulous

Cadets at West Point and the Naval Academy aren’t just getting a military education, they’re getting a forced Christian military education:

In interviews at West Point, seven cadets, two officers and a former chaplain said that religion, especially evangelical Christianity, was a constant at the academy. They said that until recently, cadets who did not attend religious services during basic training were sometimes referred to as “heathens.” They said mandatory banquets begin with prayer, including a reading from the Bible at a recent gala.

Religion Survey Results

by Ron Gold on Jun.24, 2008, under Religulous

Yesterday, Part II of the U.S. Religious Landscape Survey was released by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life, and it provides several intriguing insights. Let’s start with the encouraging news:

-More than half of evangelical respondents said that many religions can lead to eternal life, despite the central evangelical tenet that Jesus is the sole path to eternity with God.

-Beyond religious practices and beliefs, the survey delved into political views and how they are influenced by religion. Researchers found that about one in four evangelicals, and less than one-tenth of Catholics, said religious beliefs most influence their political thinking.

Atheist wants city to remove religious symbols

by DSTroy on Jun.21, 2008, under Political, Religulous

I’ll let you read the article here. But check out this quote. Why does she assume the man has ‘hatred and bigotry’?

“People who like to cite the Constitution to justify their hatred and bigotry should take the time to read it,” resident Judi King wrote to the local paper.

The only logical assumption to be made is that she is judgmental and naive.

Blue Laws

by DSTroy on Jun.21, 2008, under Political, Religulous

This is kind of a follow up to my last post, but a new topic as well; ‘Blue Laws‘. Read up from Wikipedia on how this country became more right winged as we grew. We have gotten so right winged that our bald eagle is flying in counter clock-wise circles! No wonder most right-wingers love NASCAR?? : )

These Sunday laws enacted at the state and local levels would sometimes carry penalties for doing non-religious activities on Sunday as part of an effort to enforce religious observance and church attendance. Numerous people were arrested for playing cards, baseball, and even fixing wagon wheels on Sunday. Some of these laws still exist today.

And read this quote from Henry Taber:

The first observance of Sunday- that history records is in the fourth century’, when Constantine issued an edict (not requiring its religious observance, but simply abstinence from work) reading, ‘let all the judges and people of the town rest and all the various trades be suspended on the venerable day of the sun.’ At the time of the issue of this edict, Constantine was a sun-worshiper; therefore it could have had no relation whatever to Christianity.
