Few Changes In The Religious Vote

by Ron Gold on Nov.06, 2008, under Political, Religulous

Before the election, there was lots of talk about how the evangelicals might vote more Democratic, and that the Jewish vote could switch to the Republicans. But the CNN exit polling proves that there were no major changes in how different religious groups voted, and all the talk was overblown. Some examples:

–McCain won the white born-again vote 74% to 24%

–Obama won the Jewish vote 78% to 21%.

–Obama won the Catholic vote 54% to 45%.

–Among people with no religious preference, Obama won 75% to 23%.

Here’s some footage of the cacophonous rioting that occurred at the cross streets of Sodom & Gomorrah… Anti-American socialists! Where were the police with the rubber bullets?

Democrats say McCain can help mediate standoffs

There’s something deeply wrong with putting the rights of a minority up to a majority vote,” said Evan Wolfson, a gay-rights lawyer who heads a group called Freedom to Marry. “If this were being done to almost any other minority, people would see how un-American this is.”

Obama Wins!

by DSTroy on Nov.05, 2008, under Political

I had planned on giving this more coverage. There has been several things to talk about…the implications, but there is still time. Just had to give a note of congratulation to Obama, and to a very gracious McCain. This is a time in life when we will all remember, ‘where we were’…quite an historic event. Not just a page, but a chapter has been turned… I’ve been sick despite my joy…so wish me luck, I have some Palin in my stomach, won’t shut up :).

“There are many ways to lose a presidential election. John McCain is losing in a way that threatens to take the entire Republican Party down with him… I could pile up the poll numbers here, but frankly… it’s too depressing. You have to go back to the Watergate era to see numbers quite so horrible for the GOP.” — Former Bush speechwriter David Frum 10.25.08

So the bottom line is, do we want the proven watchdog champion of the people’s interest, Mike Aguirre? Or do we want “Does it matter” — plain vanilla former judge Goldsmith to answer the call of a few IOUs? It matters. A lot. — Ron Carrico in the San Diego Daily Transcript 10.27.08

“Senator McCain has demonstrated clearly that he is a dedicated ideologue in the foreign/security policy area, unwilling to consider opinions or even credible evidence contrary to his preconceived notions. In addition, his temperament, marked not only by impatience but also by rude and sometimes hostile behavior, would discourage advisers from bringing to his attention views that might not be consistent with his preconceptions. A president with this combination of significant shortcomings would be a dangerous commander-in-chief, posing an unacceptable risk to the security of the nation.” — Lt. General (U.S. Army, Ret.) Robert G. Gard, Jr., PhD 10.26.08

“Lately, he’s called me a socialist for wanting to roll back the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans so we can finally give tax relief to the middle class. I don’t know what’s next. By the end of the week, he’ll be accusing me of being a secret communist because I shared my toys in kindergarten. I shared my peanut butter and jelly sandwich,” — Sen. Barack Obama on McCain’s attacks 10.29.08

Check out as the GOP Sinks To a New Low - Dole’s Sleazy “Godless” Ad

The whole chatter by McCain and Company about redistributing the wealth is maddening. I can’t hear a sound bite without hearing that word! But what does it mean? It’s more like a redistribution of wealth BACK to where it should be but for the unfair business practices that went on for too long! “Redistribution” of wealth is a bad way to phrase it, but it’s all McCain has. Many can’t see this and how the top tier of America has been redistributing the wealth illegally/unethically for years (This is fact: Enron, AIG…), and we NEED to redistribute it back to a proper “balance” (for lack of a better term). I’m all for fair tax code, and in good times I propose we do away with the IRS and instill a ‘Consumption Tax’ along with sales tax that is already in place…but that’s a project for later…when the economy is stable.

There is not much time left to make fun of the current administration…so, I know this is an old video Condi Rice Freaks Out; but I just saw it, and it’s funny as hell.

IT’S OVER, it’s official, Obama won! …No I’m not clairvoyant; I have just been watching the same news that you have and have been noticing a pattern, besides the obvious ones showing Obama in a big lead, but if it were a close race, the focus would be there, on the race for the white house, instead all the news is focused on a few states. Remember the news stations need to keep us believing things are close, and so they focus in on the close. They need viewers. But if they were to step back and focus on the full race and not just certain states, it would lose interest and they would lose viewers. So we focus on the states that are close…but who cares…

“On October 20, Baghdad witnessed another demonstration with more than one million Iraqi, Arabs and Kurds and others, Muslims and Christians and others, Sunnis and Shiites and others demonstrated together against the occupation and the long term agreement, asking for a complete withdrawal the leaves no permanent bases, no troops, and no mercenaries.”

Delivering his “closing argument”

by DSTroy on Oct.27, 2008, under Educational, Fresh News, Political

Delivering what his campaign billed as his “closing argument”, Obama told a crowd in Canton, Ohio, that “there’s so much at stake” in the week ahead.

“We cannot let up for one day, one minute, or one second in this last week. Not now,” he said.

Obama told voters it was up to them to “give this country the change we need,” as he tried to make the case that Sen. John McCain is too similar to President Bush to bring about that change.

Bill the software developer

DURANGO, Colo. — Ever since John McCain discovered “Joe the Plumber,” he has exalted “small business” owners — inviting them to announce their professions on signs at rallies — as the country’s only virtuous economic movers. …But now McCain has begun to define the term upward, leaving no mogul or tycoon behind.

On Thursday in Sarasota, Governor Charlie Crist introduced J. Robert Long, the CEO of Marine Concepts as a “small businessman.” The man McCain dubbed “Bob the Boat Builder” spent, as Crist noted, most of his career at Wellcraft Marine, which reported revenues of $67 million last year, according to Yahoo! Finance.

Tonight in Colorado, Senator Lindsey Graham, a close friend of the McCains, described Cindy as “a great small businesswoman.” Her “small” business — Hensley & Co., a family-owned Anheuser-Busch distributor that is the third largest among the 800 in the country — had revenues of nearly $200 million last year, according to Yahoo.

McCain Is Cooked

by DSTroy on Oct.23, 2008, under Political

Election Day is in two weeks. Or is the campaign already over? “At this point it would be difficult to see Republican losses in the Senate and House to be fewer than seven and 20 respectively,” Charlie Cook writes in his National Journal column. “A very challenging situation going into September turned into a meltdown last month, the most dire predictions for the G.O.P. early on became the most likely outcome. The metrics of this election argue strongly that this campaign is over, it’s only the memory of many an election that seemed over but wasn’t that is keeping us from closing the book mentally on this one.”

The Proof is in the Pompano Pudding

by DSTroy on Oct.17, 2008, under Fresh News, Political

Thank you to Jeffery Sanders to point out B.S. despite his political leanings. Here is what he saw on the wall of a McCain campaign office in Pompano Beach, Florida.

Anti-Obama Sign

Anti-Obama Sign

Jeffery said:

he saw the sign Thursday when he stopped to pick up tickets for today’s McCain rally at Florida International University.

“To label someone as the next Hitler is beyond outrageous [and] offensive. And it needs to be addressed. And if Barack Obama does the same thing to McCain I would expect the same reaction,” he said. “That was not American.”

Sanders, 23, is a registered Republican. The Palm Beach Community College student said he is thinking about voting for Obama.

And for the Republican Chairman to act speechless? Come on, like no one knew it was there? What are we 6 years old again? Those excuses don’t work anymore.
