False Sense of Maturity

I had been wondering when the video game Spore, which accepts that evolution is real, would be protested. While I haven’t found any mainstream group with any sway that objects to the game, I found the next best thing: a person with a website.

The site antispore.com launched this Monday, and states that Spore must be stopped because the “entire game is propaganda aimed directly at our children to teach them evolution instead of creationism, or ‘intelligent design’ if you go for stupid PC terms.” The anonymous author sees other evils in the game, like how it shows “offensive” images, like creatures mating. Then he/she/it displays the said image on the site for everyone to see. I guess that means it’s okay for me to show it too.

The only people so stupid as to not understand the answer are the creationists themselves.

A Jesus-freak science teacher took a break from teaching creationism and arguing against carbon dating to brand crosses into his students with something called a high-frequency generator:

The school board of a small central Ohio community voted unanimously Friday to fire a teacher accused of preaching his Christian beliefs despite staff complaints and using a device to burn the image of a cross on students’ arms.

School board members voted 5-0 to fire Mount Vernon Middle School science teacher John Freshwater. Board attorney David Millstone said Freshwater is entitled to a hearing to challenge the dismissal.
