Letters Reveal Mother Teresa’s Secret
by DSTroy on May.31, 2008, under Religulous
Old news, I know but very important nonetheless. I was reminded of this recently…
(CBS) In life, Mother Teresa was an icon — for believers — of God’s work on Earth. Her ministry to the poor of Calcutta was a world-renowned symbol of religious compassion. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. In a rare interview in 1986, Mother Teresa told CBS News she had a calling, based on unquestioned faith. “They are all children of God, loved and created by the same heart of God,” she said.
But now, it has emerged that Mother Teresa was so doubtful of her own faith that she feared being a hypocrite, reports CBS News correspondent Mark Phillips.
In a new book that compiles letters she wrote to friends, superiors and confessors, her doubts are obvious. Shortly after beginning work in Calcutta’s slums, the spirit left Mother Teresa. “Where is my faith?” she wrote. “Even deep down… there is nothing but emptiness and darkness… If there be God — please forgive me.”
Eight years later, she was still looking to reclaim her lost faith.

Cat Crap Fever

I was watching the Dennis Miller show on HBO about a decade ago and heard George Clooney himself tell this story. I was just talking with my GF and remembered the story for some reason. I told her and then decided to look it up. I saw it told a few times but found the most accurate version at Salon.com. Click the ‘continue reading’ link because I don’t want it to take up the front page…
No hard feelings??
by DSTroy on May.26, 2008, under Educational
I read this post on a forum. I’ll quote it in it’s entirety…
No hard feelings here - sometimes I just like to argue; especially when I’m having a crappy day at work and can’t take it out on my bosses. I know I’m full of crap 80% of the time, but I’ll fight my case even when I know I’m wrong - sometimes just to irritate people. It’s immature, I know, but you’ve gotta have a hobby…right?
I’ve known people like this! They are usually ignorant bastards that know of their stupidity and it effects their ego. They have to “be right”, even when they know they are not! Irritating was a perfect word…

Einstein’s Veiws on Religion
by DSTroy on May.15, 2008, under Religulous

Both atheists and theists alike have long debated about Einstein’s religious beliefs, but a letter to be auctioned this week may settle the long-running question. In the letter, Einstein states: “The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish.” Despite this Einstein’s views on religion will continue to be controversial, as his beliefs have always been misrepresented.

Marijuana Policy Project Alert
by DSTroy on May.12, 2008, under Political
On the verge of becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) has renewed his commitment to protecting medical marijuana patients from arrest and jail.
Here is a quote from Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt from an article in today’s San Francisco Chronicle:
“Voters and legislators in the states — from California to Nevada to Maine — have decided to provide their residents suffering from chronic diseases and serious illnesses like AIDS and cancer with medical marijuana to relieve their pain and suffering. Obama supports the rights of states and local governments to make this choice — though he believes medical marijuana should be subject to (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) regulation like other drugs.”
With Sen. Obama now widely expected to win the Democratic nomination and in a year when Democrats are favored to win the White House, this means we might be only eight months away from having a White House that stands with us on medical marijuana access.
